While celebrities and influencers flock to Palm Springs, California in thousands this weekend, British supermodel Cara Delevinge will not be among them.
The model and actress refuses to go to Coachella because of the stance the owner, Philip Anschutz takes on LGBTQ rights and his opinions on gun violence. She even promoted the hashtag #Nochella.
Its reported that billionaire Philip Anschutz, owner of Anschutz Entertainment made financial contributions to conservative political groups with strong anti-LGBTQ agendas.
However, Delevingne came under fire after she posted about her awe of Beyonce’s headline performance at this year’s festival admitting that her performance made her “burst into tears and sent shivers down [her] spine”.
Her post was quickly attacked by fans who were fast to point out her hypocrisy. Delevinge was quick to defend her post explaining that her opposition to Philip Anschutz and her support of an artist should be kept firmly separate.
“I still refuse to go to a festival that is owned by someone who is anti lgbt and pro gun. I am allowed to shame that man and the festival and show my appreciation of an artist at the same time. Just because I love Beyonce doesn’t mean I now love Coachella. I still wouldn’t go.”
