As we officially say goodbye to Summer and hello to Autumn, with that means we also say goodbye to our summer wardrobe. No more crop tops, satin shorts, and floral mini dresses. Instead we swap it for roll neck jumpers, 150 denier tights and woolly hats. Along with that cold winter season comes the rain and hail. With Irish weather always so unpredictable it’s hard to figure out what outfit is appropriate for this kind of torrential weather. Fear not ladies, I have compiled a list of outfits that you can wear during the rain while still looking like you’ve walked straight off the runway.
The most essential part of any rain-proof outfit is a decent pair of boots. Whether they’re Chelsea boots or sock boots, they’re the perfect way to remain stylish. Every high street store has an ample amount of styles and colours to choose from. If you’re feeling especially daring why not try the patent leather pair of boots as they are dominating the catwalk at the moment. Black boots are timeless but why not try a colour that will really stand out? A red faux leather boot with a silver ring is the perfect shoe for this weather and is guaranteed to turn some heads.
Now if the cold is one thing you definitely want to avoid then look no further than the roll neck jumper. This is the perfect clothing item for the A/W season. The roll neck jumper is a classic jumper that will keep you warm and cosy on those rainy days. So if you get caught in the lashings of rain, then this jumper is the one for you. To style this out a pair of black skinny jeans and a pair of the patent leather boots or for an edgier look, a pair of black trousers and loafers. Chic, yet shielding you from the wet.
The sports luxe trend is very much a current trend on the runway and in the high streets. A pair of long trousers with a white or red panel down the side or a tapered leg will certainly keep you looking stylish during the bleak, dark weather while still remaining comfortable. Why not combine two of these items to make a killer outfit like a roll neck jumper or even a classic turtleneck.
Now if some of these outfits aren’t quite your style then why try something a bit more feminine? A corduroy pinafore or skirt could be the one for you. Many would associate skirts or pinafores with summer but not always. The corduroy completely eliminates those summer vibes and gives it the warmth needed for those wintery days. Pair it with some black tights, over the knee boots paired with a simple shirt and you’re all set!
I’m sure some of you must be wondering what sort of outerwear is suitable for a rainy day. One of the hottest new jackets on the high street is the puffer or bubble jacket. This jacket is available in nearly every or at least most high street stores and offer a wide range of colours and styles. This jacket is the perfect layer of protection from rain yet completely on trend for this A/W season.
