For many people, their style inspirations come from either celebrities’ street style or bloggers they follow on Instagram. However, sometimes it’s the people closest to us that have great style. Out of all the people in my life, my friend Aoife comes to mind. At 5ft 3 with blonde hair and a wardrobe to die for, she is one of the most stylish people I know.
Aoife studies English and Spanish in Trinity College Dublin and embodies everything you would expect of a Trinity Arts student. Her style is like a hybrid of Cher from Clueless along with Alexa Chung and Zendaya. I have always admired Aoife’s style and her natural flare for putting an outfit together. Any event we would attend, whether it was just a night out or a festival, Aoife would pull out an outfit that left us all in awe. Whether it was her flared jeans with a velvet bardot or leather shorts with a turtle neck she has always looked fabulous.
When I asked Aoife how she would describe her personal style, she coined it as ‘hipster barbie’. Taking luxurious brands like Balmain and Versace and turning them into something more high street is the foundation to her style. Shops like Zara, Topshop and H&M are some of her go-to stores as well as online shops like PrettyLittleThing.com and the Australian retail store PepperMayo.
In terms of current favourite trends, Aoife is loving the bougee vibe at the moment with faux fur jackets and vinyl everything, “tacky chic” as she said herself. The 90s and 70s fashion is another trend that has become more of a staple in her wardrobe as she incorporates them into her style on a daily basis. Not a day goes by when I don’t see Aoife wearing her white Reebok Classics, some hoop earrings or some denim attire whether it be asymmetric jeans or her oversized denim jacket. With her natural flare for style and eye for trends, Aoife will remain my most stylish friend.
